Paige Evelyn Pedersen (b. 1988, Cape Girardeau, Missouri) received her BA in Studio Art from Saint Louis University in 2011 where she focused on painting and graphic design.
Her works explore the female form through the lens of the mind-body connection and the effects of grief and isolation on mental health.
Her most recent series “Mother / Daughter” is inspired by found photographs of her young mother in an attempt to find connection to her through shared physicality.
“Painting myself and my mother is an act of reflection and compassion in an effort to heal from the trauma of a fractured childhood, while exploring our identities and shared struggles as women. Framing our bodies within crops that defy identification, my works convey the dissociative nature of a disrupted mind-body connection that contrasts with the re-sensation of emotional healing and the beauty of the feminine form.”
She currently lives and works in St. Louis, MO.
